History of Grimes County
Grimes County was created in 1846, derived from a part from Montgomery County. It was named in honor of Jesse Grimes, one of Stephen F. Austin’s Colonists and one of the Texas Declaration of Independence signer and State Senator. Its seat of government is Anderson, the Anderson town. Anderson.
