History of Brazos County

Brazos County was portion of Stephen F . Austin’s second colony in the 1820’s. It was established in 1841, derived from Robertson as well as Washington counties, and was named Navasota and was changed its name in 1842, becoming Brazos to honor Brazos to honor the Brazos River. The county seat is Bryan.

Demography
