History of Childress County

1876–Childress county was established on 21 May 1876, derived from the Bexar Land District. It was named in honor of George C. Childress, (1804-1841) lawyer statesman, statesman, and the creator of the Texas Declaration of Independence, the son of John Campbell and Elizabeth (Robertson) Childress birth date was January 8, 1804 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Demography

The average size of a household is 2.40 and the median family size was 3.00.
