History of Eastland County

It was formed in 1858. county was first established in 1858, and was later organized in 1873.. It was named after William Mosby Eastland, a soldier in the Texas Revolution and the only officer who died due to the “Black Bean executions” of the Mier Expedition. The two Eastland County communities, Cisco and Ranger have junior colleges.

Demography

In 2000, the census 2000, 18,297 residents included 7,321 households and 536 families lived throughout the town. The density of the population was 20 people per sq mi (8/km 2). 9 547 households had an average of 10.sq miles (4/km 2). The race composition in the County was 91.03 93% of whites, 2.18% African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 4.85 percent from other races and 1.25 percent of at least two races. The county was home to 10.80 percent of the inhabitants were Hispanic and Latino, regardless of race.

From the 731 households 27.70 percent had kids who were younger than 18 in their homes, 55.40 percent are married couples that live together. 9.50 percent of households had women without a husband present and 31.20 percent were not families. Around 28.6 percent of households were comprised of people who were not married as well as 16.20 percent had someone living in a home on their own and was aged 65 or older. or older. The median household size is 2.39 while the median size of a family was 2.93.

In the county the population was categorized in the following order: 23.20 percent of those less than 18 years old, 9.80 percent between 18 and 24, 22.30% from 25 to 44, 23.90% from 45 to 64 between 45 and 64, and 20.90 percent of those aged 65 and over. It was a median of 41. In 100 women they had 94.10 males. To every female aged 18 and above it was 90.60 males.

The median household income for the entire county of $26,832 while the median for a family of three, $33,562. Males earned a median of $25,598 as opposed to $17,112 for females. The per-capita earnings in the County was $18,870. Around 12.10 percent of households and 16.80 percent of the total people living in the county were less than the poverty limit which included 23.10 percent of those who were aged 18 or less and 14.80 percent of people 65 and over.
