Moving to Dallas Texas Pros and Cons

Moving to Dallas to most people is a big decision to make and can be filled with a lot of emotions. It has a lot of pros and cons attached to it. So, getting informed forehand is a wise move. It will help you in making the best decisions.

Pros of living in Dallas

Opportunities

From statistics, the job market in Dallas is in constant growth. The reason for this is the fact that many companies moved to Dallas. The main reason for this movement is as a result of government incentives. Businesses in the area enjoy income-tax-free transactions.

Emerging companies also benefit from the municipalities. The opportunities go as far as the suburbs of Dallas as well. More companies surmount to more jobs and higher earnings.

Weather

There is a rise in the demand for sunscreen lotions during summertime in Dallas. Those moving to Dallas from the northern regions of the country are keenly advised to be prepared for the harsh Texas summer. Sun protection lotions can be handy at this period. The weather can be extremely harsh. However, you will experience much better weather at other periods of the year.

Sports

Are you into competitive sports like Football and Basketball or just a fan? In Dallas, you get both sports with a massive fan-base and followership. A sports fan is a sports fan no matter what part of the world he or she resides in. Dallas welcomes all sports enthusiasts with open arms and a welcoming smile.

No income tax

This is mind-blowing. No income tax simply means more money in your pocket and less government stress. Basically, this means more in-hand income but there still exists sales tax and property tax, it’s not tax-free. Making more money than you will make elsewhere by performing the same task is a huge plus according to my judgment.

Food

There is a guarantee that you can never go hungry in Dallas Texas because there is always somewhere to eat around the corner. It’s not any kind of food to be precise but the mouth-watering kind. If you are the type who derive pleasure in feeding your social media followers with images of your food, you are probably in the right city with finger-licking delicacies such as:

  • Tex-Mexk
  • Frito Pie
  • Chicken-fried steak and fried okra
  • Pecan pie
  • Pecan pralines
  • TFletcher’s Corny Dog

Great Schools

All over the state of Texas, schooling is treated as a top priority and Dallas is not an exception. Families who move to Dallas to start a new life and raise kids will not be disappointed with the schooling system. From elementary to college, the personal growth of students is treated with utmost importance. Even companies invest finances into the education and further training of their employees to help them advance further their career of interest.

Cons of living in Dallas Texas

Traffic

This has to be the scariest part of living in Dallas Texas. Although the city of Dallas has some of the best roadways and highways in the USA, traffic is a major turnoff like other big cities around the world. There is a vast range of options to transport with but the increasing population of car owners makes mobility difficult and significantly time-consuming. The public transportation system doesn’t help matters because it is not properly planned and managed. Trains are better if you are in a rush although they might not be as comfy as other modes of transport.

Nature

Dallas lacks green open spaces. This occurred because infrastructural development and buildings occupy vast areas of land and leave little for nature to thrive and fallow. Most nature lovers and those who love hiking in the woods will not enjoy staying in Dallas. East Dallas has the White Rock Lake which supports outdoor activities like:

  • Hiking
  • Swimming
  • Kayaking
  • Running
  • Running

Housing costs

This con is synonymous with the high living cost in Dallas as compared to other regions in Texas. Dallas has a median rent listing price of $1,700 with a median household income of $72,000. Although the housing prices are on the high side, they are affordable even to average citizens.

Reflection

The city of Dallas and its vast area have decades of history under its sleeves and it deserves accolades for growing at the same pace as other big cities across America. Dallas is open to visitors 24/7. You can always visit for a tour if you don’t have plans to live in it. If the TV jingles haven’t won you over yet, I believe a visit will.
