History of Concho County

The Texas Legislature formed Concho County from Bexar County in 1858. The year 1874 was the time Ranald Scott. Mackenzie was the leader of a campaign to drive the remaining indigenous peoples out and created the Mackenzie Trail. It was the county seat that was officially established and was named Paint Rock after the nearby Pictographs.

Demography

In in the 2000 census in 2000 3,966 inhabitants included 1,058 households as well as 757 families lived in the county.
