History of Crane County
The county of Crane County was created in 1887, derived from the land that was previously Tom Green County. Crane County was established in 1927 following discovering oil. Crane is the sole city within Crane County. Crane was an oil-rich town in the 1920’s and is still the oil-producing region.
Demography
In in the 2000 census at the time of the 2000 census, there were 3,996 residents included 1,360 households and 1,082 families lived in the county.
