History of Cottle County

The county seat is Paducah. It was created in 1876, and was later organized around 1892. The county’s name is a tribute to George Washington Cottle, who was killed while fighting for the Alamo. Cottle County was formerly one of the prohibition areas of 46 county, which were completely dry within Texas. Texas.
